a map is located at the back of the book.

J. Allen. New  edition - Andrew Farthing

One sad night in 1886 no less than twenty seven brave lifeboat men

lost their lives off the Lancashire coast.  This is the story of the "Mexico"

disaster, and the men of the Southport, St. Annes and Lytham lifeboats.

S.AP.15: "Crossen's, Southport's Cinderella Suburb" £16.95 £2.95 £7.40

Harry Foster

Crossens, part of the parish of North Meols, was a detached settlement,

on the northern fringe of what is now Southport.  With a history quite

different from that of other areas of the town.  Its situation on the southern

bank of the Ribble estuary resulted in it enjoying much richer  agricultural

land. Farming dominated Crossens, but as Southport developed as a

resort and residential town in the early nineteenth century, it became

an out-of-site dormitory for the town's poorest paid labourers and others.

S.AP.16: "Southport Through the Letterbox" £4.99 £1.15 £1.95

A Picture Postcard History of Southport -

G. A. and A. G. Burgess

In compiling this collection of old postcards, we are not attempting to

present a complete or concise history of Southport - that has already been

done more than adequately in other publications. What we have tried to

do instead is present a look into the past, through a varied selection of

scenes, subjects and events which have taken  place in the resort over a

number of years.
