The Benefits of joining
Members will receive a copy of the society’s magazine, ‘The Sandgrounder’. This is published every 3 months, and contains information about the society and members, a ‘Help Wanted’ page, and articles provided by members as well as family history events that are being held, both locally and nationally.
We now, also offer ‘The Sandgrounder’ in a digital format sent via email, if you would prefer to receive it this way please get in touch to ensure we have your up-to-date email address.
The Library below is currently not available. We will advise you when we are able to offer this facility again.
The society also has quite an extensive library of publications that are available for loan. Members who don’t live in the Southport area can still borrow books from the library as long as they pay for the postage. You can now download a copy of the library List from our ‘Links’ Page.
Unfortunately this service is only available to UK members.
A Members’ Interests booklet is sent out with the magazine once a year. This contains details of members and the names they are researching, enabling people with similar interests to get in touch with one another.
Some members of the committee have volunteered to undertake free, limited research for our members. This includes searches of local records such as street directories, electoral registers and old local newspapers. UK residents can join the society by going to our ‘Links’ page, downloading the membership form, when completed, please send it to the Membership Secretary at the address shown on the form. Don’t forget to include a cheque for the appropriate membership fee, made payable to ‘North Meols FHS’. Overseas residents and anybody wishing to pay by debit or credit card should go to either the GENfair or Parish Chest web site.
Links to the North Meols FHS pages at these sites are given below.
If you do join through GENfair or Parish Chest you should still complete a membership form and send it to the Membership Secretary to ensure we have all of your details recorded correctly. Don’t forget to write on the form that payment was made via GENfair.
